Alice (Stewart) McMurry or Alice the Great, as I fondly call her, is quite a lady. Nancy and I visited with her in her home in Promise City Ia in the spring of 2001. She was living in her own home at the time. She made us a wonderful meal, and we chatted the whole afternoon away before going out for a bite of supper at the local diner.
Alice is the youngest of the Stewart clan, and the only living relative from her generation. She had many interesting stories to tell Nancy and me. Her mind remains sharp. She is enduring the fragilities of her age at the present, but we are hoping she will rally from her current health crisis soon. I'm not sure which home she is in at the present time. I keep in touch through letters and contact with Betty Lee. If anyone would like to drop her a line, her home address is:108 Depot St. Promise City IA. I'm sure she would love hearing from one and all of us! I believe her son (Sonny) will see she gets her messages. She is a wonderful author, and I have enjoyed many hours reading her book, articles, and poems.
